Our Friends are very important to us. We value their support highly and look forward to meeting each other at the organised events and maybe even at Founder’s Day when a limited number of tickets are available. Above all, the Friends are part of a truly unique, historic community in which the local area – and the wider Church – can take justifiable pride.

What Being a Friend means to Us

By becoming a Friend of Bromley & Sheppard’s Colleges, you will be providing much needed support to help us maintain our treasured buildings, which, in turn will contribute to the wellbeing of our Residents today and for the generations to come. Bromley College is a Grade 1 listed building and Sheppard’s College is Grade 2. The very special value of the Colleges, however, goes far beyond their aesthetic and historic qualities. It lies in their glorious fitness for purpose, undimmed since 1666. Bromley & Sheppard’s is a true community built around shared beliefs and values. Its strength is tangible, its function inseparable from its fabric. The very successful appeal launched in 2005 raised the much-needed funds to renovate and upgrade the living accommodation in accordance with advice from English Heritage – all of which have been completed now. But we still need help to fulfil our charitable purpose and protect the heritage of our buildings.

Subscriptions are set at a modest level to suit every income. If a Friend feels able to pay at a higher level, they are of course, more than welcome. We can arrange annual membership with a standing order or life membership. Current subscriptions are listed on the enclosed application form. Or contact us for more information. Bromley & Sheppard’s may well be a community in its own right, but it is also very much part of the broader community as well. Those who share our purpose and goals we regard as Friends in every sense. You can become a Friend simply by making a regular donation to the charity via a standing order with your bank.

The Friends have already contributed to two substantial projects and several smaller ones, The biggest project we have supported so far is the Chapel renovation programme within which we have paid for the new Cross and its plinth on the top of the. Chapel entrance.

Chapel West Front Cross Stump

The most recent project was to pay for the renovation of the Zachary Pearce “commentaries” on the Bible that were damaged by flooding in 2011. Newsletters
